Jana Nakhal
Jana is an urban planner who specializes in slums, refugee camps, and informality. She has worked around Lebanon in Palestinian camps and in the South. She is active in migrant workers union-organizing as well as student movement organization, co-founding the Red Oak Club, a leftist students, workers and teachers collective in AUB. She has published on urban, gender, arts and local political issues in Al-Akhbar as As-Safir. She has also written and published illustrations in a book (“at the edge of the city,” 2010) and is currently researching urban issues. She is currently working with female Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian refugees on social, economic, and spatial coping mechanisms.
