Alys Weinbaum

Alys Eve Weinbaum is Professor of English at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her work explores intersections of race and reproduction across the longue durée of racial capitalism. Her books include The Afterlife of Reproductive Slavery: Biocapitalism and Black Feminism’s Philosophy of History (2019) and Wayward Reproductions: Genealogies of Race and Nation in Transatlantic Modern Thought (2004). Her current project treats dystopian fiction as a form of historiography that is uniquely positioned to afford new understandings of reproductive dispossession in our time.
