Elia Eliev

Dr. Elia Eliev (they/them) is Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Thorneloe University at Laurentian (Canada), located on the traditional lands of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. Eliev received their PhD from the Institute of Gender and Feminist Studies at the University of Ottawa, where they were a recipient of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Fellowship. Eliev also holds an MA in Critical, Cross-Cultural, Cybermedia from the Haute Ecole d’art et de design, Genève (HES-SO), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) from the University of Ottawa. Their teaching and research interests include: global contemporary art, queer of color theory, queer of color critique, critical race theory, masculinity studies, postcolonial and decolonial theories, and gender and sexuality studies in the Middle East and North Africa, and South Africa.
