Amal Eqeiq
Born in 1976, Amal Eqeiq is from the city of Taybeh in the Palestine triangle. She is an Assistant Professor in Arabic Studies and Comparative Literature at Williams College in Williams Town (Massachusetts, USA). She is interested in the topics of Global South literature, Palestinian studies, popular culture, feminism(s), translation, performance studies, the history of indigenous peoples in the Americas, and creative writing. She is currently residing in Berlin, where she is working on completing a manuscript titled Indigenous Affinities: Comparative Study in Mayan and Palestinian Narratives as a fellow at the EUME Institute and the Institute of Latin American Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. In addition to the above, Amal is a literary writer and has published several stories and articles in MadaMasr and Jadaliyya, among other texts. In 2011 and 2017, Amal published in Jadaliyya selected poems by Hussein Barghouti (from Arabic to English) and by Miguel Ángel Asturias (from Spanish to Arabic). Amal is currently working on her first novel. She also writes in a Facebook blog called “Diaries of a Hedgehog Feminist.”
