Leen Hashem
Leen Hashem is a feminist writer and performer living in Beirut. She majored in gender and sexuality studies at SOAS, University of London, and she is part of local and regional feminist groups. Her essays and translations have been published in a number of newspapers, magazines and websites including Shabab Assafir and Kohl Journal for Body & Gender Research. She has worked as a trainer, policy advisor and researcher at multiple institutions, including “FRIDA: the Young Feminist Fund” and the American University of Beirut. She has participated in various poetry nights and festivals in Lebanon and abroad. In May 2018, Leen and Alexandre Paulikevitch wrote and performed “The Last Distance” as part of “Love Letters to Meem” exhibition curated by Dima Matta in Beirut, before taking the performance to Belfast and Kathmandu. Leen is currently working on her first poetry collection titled “Class Hatred”.
