Mariam Mecky
Mariam Mecky is an Egyptian feminist researcher, who is currently an MA candidate in Gender Studies and Law at SOAS, University of London. Mecky has worked as a researcher, journalist and NGO worker focused broadly on gender issues and politics in Egypt and the MENA region at large. Her interests include but not limited to; gender-based violence, feminist mobilization, state, and resistance, and body politics. She received a BA in Political Science from the British University in Egypt in 2013 where her dissertation tackled how the different political forces, prior to the revolutionary moment in 2011 and after, attempted to control women’s bodies as a measure to assert their political dominance.
